A glamorous return - Pamela Anderson at the Dolder Grand

The Dolder Grand and the Zurich Film Festival are united by a long-standing partnership, which is manifested in two important anniversaries this year: the Dolder Grand turns 125, while the ZFF is celebrating its 20th anniversary.
In keeping with tradition, the Dolder Grand accommodates numerous prominent Hollywood guests attending the Zurich Film Festival. This year, Pamela Anderson was a guest at Zurich’s iconic hotel landmark. She enjoyed not only the luxurious ambience of the hotel, but also its wonderful natural surroundings, taking the opportunity to stroll through the Dolder forest during her stay.

The actress, who has Canadian roots but started her career in the USA, was awarded the Golden Eye this year for her varied career and new film The Last Showgirl. In the film, she plays longtime cabaret dancer Shelly, who deals with the challenges of getting older in the entertainment industry. Shelly represents a pivotal role for Pamela Anderson, for which she spent her whole life preparing in order to truly fill her shoes – she explains in interviews. She sees a lot of similarities between the character of Shelly and her own show business experience.

The Last Showgirl is about the pursuit of personal truth and letting go of superficial beauty ideals – a strong statement of authenticity, acceptance of one’s own nature and a transformation that Anderson herself has experienced. While in the past she was often reduced to her looks and relationships, and was one of the most popular glamour icons of 90’s pop culture as Baywatch star C.J. Parker, Anderson now shows a deeper, reflective side. This is also reflected in her most recent projects in 2022 and 2023, as well as her biography, Love, Pamela, the Netflix documentary Pamela, a Love Story and her role as Roxie Hart in the Broadway musical Chicago. Anderson is also heavily involved in environmental and animal rights issues, supports organisations such as PETA and the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society and is open to discussions about societal expectations of beauty and ageing.

During her stay at the Dolder Grand, Anderson took the opportunity to explore the natural beauty of the surrounding area. A particularly remarkable photo (picture) shows the actress taking a walk in the idyllic Dolder Forest, where hotel guests can also enjoy forest bathing and relaxation. Her make-up-free and natural look underlines the element of naturalness and authenticity, as well as her new image.
